People, Process & Talisen’s 4 Pillars in Company Culture

Here at Talisen Construction, we seek to achieve perfection in all aspects of our company. As an organization, it has always been our greatest goal to build a company culture that rests upon the same four pillars, or core values, we practice in all our construction services. These four pillars include project agility, people, innovation, and the pursuit of perfection.

In this blog post, we will focus on the external portion of the “people” pillar and you’ll learn how people at Talisen are engaged in the local community. Next up in this series, we’ll focus on how Talisen’s processes tie in with our people in order to provide the best possible services to our clients.. Let’s take a look!

People, Process & Talisen’s 4 Pillars in Company Culture

The Talisen Culture: Putting People First

At Talisen, we connect with the fundamental belief that to transform our industry, we must first start with ourselves. We know we’re only as good as our people, our vendors, and our processes, and so we operate on the fundamental belief that an exceptional project start with us.

For this reason, we stay committed to employee development, annual reviews, robust end-of-year evaluations and targeted training. We have a project management team that holds bi-weekly “best practices” meetings, where the people who operate in the processes offer suggestions based on their insights and experiences. From back office operations to project management approach, our employees are our core and act as the driving force for perfecting our company’s culture. We hold our team in the highest regard and supply them with all means necessary to succeed.. Because promoting an inspiring and cohesive company culture yields ten-fold in our ability to provide the NY Metro area with unparalleled construction services.

Our NYC Community: Talisen Gives Back

As a NYC-based construction firm, it’s important to note that when we talk about “our people”, we’re referring to our fellow humans—not simply the network of colleagues that lie within the confines of our office walls.

From physical structures to communal strength, it is Talisen’s mission to build NY’s best possible tomorrow, today. We stay true to this mission by giving back to the people and neighborhoods our organization has the privilege of serving.

For instance, during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic we actively assembled as many N-95 masks as we could to help provide PPE to essential healthcare workers. It was our way of helping to #flattenthecurve and keeping our community healthy. We urged others in our industry to do the same (you can read about here), because in times like these, it’s of great importance to band together and do whatever we can for the greater good of those we build for.

#TeamTalisen Bikes for Autism Awareness & Funding

Perhaps Talisen’s most well-known contribution to our community is the company’s annual participation in Bike to The Beach— a 100-mile bike ride dedicated to raising autism awareness.

With 1 in 54 children being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the United States every year, there are upwards of 3.5 million Americans are on the spectrum. However, ASD received the least federal funding of any developmental disorder. Organizations like Bike to the Beach work to fill that by funding local organizations that provide summer camps, after-school programs, and job training/support for those with ASD.

In 2016 (our company’s first year participating in Bike to The Beach), Talisen was honored by the NYS Senate when State Senator Todd Kaminsky presented a proclamation to Talisen CEO Joseph Rigazio’s son, John. John Rigazio was recognized for his distinct contribution to the cause by participating in the 100-mile bike ride alongside his accomplishment of actively raising more than $40,000 as part of a 25-member ride team.

Over the years, #TeamTalisen has worked to raise over $250,000 in donations that help fund research and build awareness for Autism, and we plan on continuing our efforts for years to come.
