After Google’s massive $1.9 billion acquisition of 111 Eighth Ave., Taconic Management’s property team was retained in order to help manage the tech giant’s 2.9-million-square-foot NYC headquarters in Chelsea, which is currently the fourth-largest building in the city.

Talisen Construction was tasked with a crucial infrastructure build that required converting an unused freight elevator into a custom-designed, ultramodern steel staircase that spans 16 stories . With an innovative top-down method, Talisen used mast-climbing scaffolding inside of the existing elevator shaft that allowed for the safe and efficient transport of both trade workers and materials within the work area.

With trade workers following closely behind the steel workers that needed to lay down the initial structure, Talisen was able to reduce the expected 18-month schedule f by more than 50%, finishing in just 7 months.
